Bring cold, fresh water to a boil. 
Preheat teacup by filling with boiling water. 
Pour out before adding the tea leaves. 
Fill a tea filter with 1 teaspoon of tea leaves.
Place in teacup, folding the loose flap over teacup rim.
After steeping time is complete, remove tea filter from teacup. 
Add sugar, lemon, or  cream to taste.


Pour boiling water over tea filter. 
Steep black teas for 4-6 minutes to develop full flavor of tea. 
Begin steeping  for 4  minutes, increasing the minutes as needed.
Over-steeping will result in a bitter brew.
Heat water to 160°-180°  “just below boiling” and pour over tea filter. 
Steep green teas for only 2-3 minutes. 
Green teas turn bitter quickly!
Heat water to 180°-200° "just at boiling"and pour over tea filter. 
Steep 3-5 minutes. 
Pour boiling water over tea filter. 
Steep herbal tisanes 4-6 minutes. 
Fruit tisanes may require steeping 1-2 minutes longer.
Use 1½ - 2 rounded measuring teaspoons of tea per 8 oz. cup of water.   Using the following general guidelines, brew the tea for the suggested time and temperature.

When the tea has finished steeping, remove the tea leaves and pour directly into a glass filled with ice.  Enjoy!
